COVID-19 – I need help….

I need help shopping

If you are currently ‘shielding’ because your health condition is classified as making you extremely vulnerable to coronavirus, you should register on the Government website. This will enable you to ask for assistance including a weekly box of basic supplies and priority supermarket deliveries.

If you are aged over 70, or under 70 but with an underlying health condition, you should ask family and friends to help by getting shopping and any medicine you need.

If this is not possible, a number of community groups have been set up to help in response to coronavirus, and you can search for your local group here.

Shropshire Council can assist those needing help getting food here.

You may also ask for the assistance of an NHS Volunteer Responder, to get your shopping and pick up your prescription.

How do I look after my relatives at this time?

If you are currently looking after someone who is ‘shielding’ because their health condition is classified as making them extremely vulnerable to coronavirus, you should make sure they are registered on the Government website. This will enable you to ask for assistance including a weekly box of basic supplies, priority supermarket deliveries and help meeting basic care needs.

The Government has issued guidance for anyone who cares for a friend or family member who, due to a lifelong condition, illness, disability, serious injury, a mental health condition or an addiction, cannot cope without their support.
