When we are closed

In a genuine emergency you should call 999. If your condition cannot wait for 1½ hours, this is likely to be an emergency. Eg: Choking, Chest Pain, Blacking out, Blood loss. etc.

If you don’t need 999, but cannot wait until the surgery is open again call 111. They will assess your need and direct you to the most appropriate source of help. If they decide you need GP services out of hours, you will be directed to Shropdoc (Shropshire Doctors Co-operative Ltd) who are contracted to provide this.

For emergency Dental issues for Shropshire please also phone 111.

Walk-in Centre

There is an NHS walk-in centre at Royal Shrewsbury Hospital next to A&E. Opening hours are 08:00 – 20:00.

Out-of-hours services are generally busy so please think carefully before asking to see a doctor and only do so if you genuinely cannot wait until the surgery re-opens.

A&E

Please only attend here if you have had an ACCIDENT and need medical help or it is a true emergency. Do call 111 if you are unsure.

Self Care – could you get help for this yourself?

Self care is the best choice to treat minor illnesses, ailments and injuries. A range of common illnesses can be treated at home simply with over the counter medicines and plenty of rest. Self care is important throughout our lives to prevent ill health and treat minor conditions, which can be managed at home by yourself or with support from your community pharmacy.
