Our December Newsletter is now available.
National Emergency information
Due to the current National Emergency announced by the Prime Minister, we are doing everything we can to increase the number of vaccinated and boosted patients in Shrewsbury. We have been asked to prioritise vaccinations over all of our routine work. This may mean that unless your health problem is acutely urgent, we may not be able to see you until January, or your existing appointment may be rearranged.
Please be kind and respectful to our staff whilst we work through this situation as best we can.
We will be vaccinating patients at Marysville as often as we can over the next 2 weeks. If you need a first, second or booster dose we will try to book you an appointment. If we do not have capacity here there are other local vaccination centres you can attend by booking through 119.
COVID-19 Vaccine Update
In light of the announcement from the Government we will be reassessing our vaccination provision to offer vaccines to as many of you as possible.
- PLEASE DO NOT JUST TURN UP AT THE PRACTICE TO GET VACCINATED.
- PLEASE DO NOT PHONE RECEPTION AS WE ARE STILL PLANNING.
We will send text messages and contact patients with details of arrangements to everyone that is eligible as soon as we can.
Thank you for your patience.

Combined flu and COVID booster appointments
Patients over 50 and in the at risk groups for a combined flu and COVID booster appointment will be contacted shortly – in line with recommendations for patients to have the two vaccines together where possible. if you can’t have both vaccines together, or you have already had either the flu jab or the COVID booster jab, that is fine you can still have your other jab with us at Severn Fields Vaccination Centre.
Patients will be invited to these clinics in order of priority according to the JCVI cohorts – the clinics will be running through to December.
Patients that are due their booster will also receive a text from the National team which will invite you to book via 119 and will offer appointments in Telford, Market Drayton and Woodside. You can choose to book one of these appointments, or wait for us to contact you for a local appointment at Severn Fields Vaccination Centre.
In the meantime, please make sure reception have your up to date mobile telephone number, as this is the easiest way for us to invite you.
COVID-19 boosters
We are just finding out information about the COVID-19 booster campaign at the same time as the public are, and do not yet have all the details. We are anticipating deliveries of COVID-19 booster vaccines to Shrewsbury in early October and will soon start inviting patients over 50 and in the at risk groups for a combined flu and COVID-19 booster appointment – this is in line with recommendations for patients to have the two vaccines together where possible. Appointments will be at the vaccination centre at Severn Fields Medical Practice. Patients will be invited to these clinics in order of priority according to the JCVI cohorts as with the initial doses, and due to the volume of patients we are vaccinating the clinics will be running right through to December. In the meantime, please make sure we have your up to date mobile telephone number, as this is the easiest way for us to invite you.
New Health and Wellbeing Hub – your feedback wanted!
The CCG has recently launched a listening exercise to obtain the views of patients and practice staff on proposals for a new health and wellbeing hub in Shrewsbury.
The eight practices involved in this project are:
- The Beeches Medical Practice
- Claremont Bank Surgery
- Mytton Oak Surgery
- Radbrook Green Surgery
- Belvidere Medical Practice
- Marden Medical Practice
- Marysville Medical Practice

The hub will pilot a new approach to providing local health and wellbeing services that work seamlessly together to offer high quality care for the local community.
The new facility, which could open in Autumn 2024, will be a fantastic resource with a range of health and wellbeing services provided by the NHS, local council, and voluntary sector organisations under one roof, in a new state-of-the-art building.
The listening exercise will run between 23 August 2021 and 26 September 2021.
